While the industry standard for protective plastic shields is Acrylic — sometimes referred to as Plexiglas, a brand name — we use Polycarbonate for all of our automotive germ shields. We do this for several reasons, which include:

• Temperature resistance – Lexan (polycarbonate) can handle higher temperature fluctuations, in excess of 200 degrees. Acrylic however, cannot withstand higher temperatures, maxing out around 170 degrees.
• Safer – Polycarbonate is used in the production of bulletproof glass because of its extreme durability, while acrylic can easily shatter into sharp splinters in the event of an accident.
• Transportability – For those who use ride-share applications, such as Uber or Lyft, you’ll likely want to remove or take down the barrier when not transporting riders. With our Polycarbonate shields, you don’t have to worry about the product being fragile and breaking.
